Desi Lane wan an multi cuisine restaurant with full bar availability. They serve North Indian, Chinese, continental and Italian cuisine. Live music by DJ, Big Screens for Live sports action, live music, Desi themed Decor and full nightlife fun Desi Lane wan an houseful package for crowd of kolkata.
Desi Lane was located in the stately area of Alipur, On the first floor of the Enclave Building just half minute walking from Paris Cafe.
Décor - Except food Décor is everything of this restaurant cum pub. Their Décor was perfectly match to their name Desi Lane. The whole area including dine in area, personal cabins, DJ's place, hookah space and a Bar all were designed and decorared in desi style. A desi themed restaurant whose walls were decorated with old movies and serials posters, Actors and Actresses posters, village beds to sit and funky boards in white bricks walls. retro lightning, lantern lights, desi massages boards, bright funky colored auro, and old yellow scooter and old style Disco light bulbs entrance The Décor was fully fun Desi. Area was huge, they have 2 separate cabins, a dine in area with tables & chairs and another with couches for hookahs, a bar and a DJ's separate room. well a huge sized truly Desi themed Pub cum restaurant which looks amazing.
Ambience - Ambience was really nice. funky desi environment with fun loving crowd. hospitality was also impressive. staff was well trained. they performing their part very well. very friendly and helpful staff. service in reasonable time. presentation was superb. reasonable price.
Now let's move on to the main part which was tasting. We start with drinks first in which we have some refreshing mocktails.
* Gondhoraj Basil Mojito - A refreshing mocktail which was found in almost every cafe/restaurant of kolkata to attract bengoli crowd. Little tangy and sweet mocktail which was very delicious and refreshing too made with the classy combination of Gondhoraj lemon juice, basil leaves and some mint leaves and soda. garnished with lemon slice, basil and mint leaves.
* Chatka Mary - Chatka Mary was the all time favorite mocktail of the people like me who love spicy mocktails. Chilly Guava our all time favorite from childhood now comes in a form of a mocktail. Guava juice mixes with green chilly cutouts, lime juice, balsamic vinegar, tobasco sauce, black pepper, chat masala, red chilly powder and rock salt giving us the amazingly delicious taste which was a magical comination of spicyness, chillyness and sweetness gives throughback to childhood memories. very delicious mocktail served in chatmasala rimmed glass. personal favorite drink true desi recommended to all.
* Kiwi Frappe - This was something we called Classy. The most refreshing and the most nutritious mocktail which was soda based and made with the combination of Kiwi squash, thai basil, fresh mints and lemon juice. little tangy, very sweet and heavenly delicious and refreshing mocktail garnished with lemon slice, thai basil and mint leaves.
With these delicious mocktails they served us some spicy starters which were reviewed below -
* Paneer Thread - Thread Paneer is traditionally a Chinese dish. In this recipe the spicy marinated paneer is coated in threads of flour. These threads give the Paneer Thread a crispy and a unique taste. Paneer Thread is crispy from outside but soft and creamy from inside. Paneer is loved by people of all age group but if your bored of common paneer recipes and snacks, here is a different one that you’ll love to try.
* Veg Nanthore - Crispy and chilly potatoes made with cube shaped potatoes tossed with chinese sauces and thai spices which tastes tangy, sour and spicy. a soulmate starter with your drink. full of flavour and spicy starter which tastes delicious recommended.
* Corn Malai Kabab - This was my personal favorite from snacks. so creamy and cheesy galawati shaped kabab's made with corn kernels, cottage cheese and goat cheese all mixed with some Indian spices and then fry in slow flamed tawa. It was little crispy, heavenly creamy, aromatic spicy and tastes delicious. A must try highly recommended.
That's all with the Drinks and Starters. we ended our Desi Tadka experience with some North Indian Dishes in Main Course reviewed below -
* Punjabi Aloo Dum - Punjabi Aloo Dum is One of the Most Delicious dish of north India which was easy to make and tastes traditionally good. made with turmeric powder coated semi fried potatoes cooked in curd based semi spicy thick gravy with added ginger,garlic & onion paste, Indian spices and some methi leaves. taste was heavenly delicious. spicy and amazingly tasty. recommended.
* Desi Videshi - This is the dish which is going more popular day by day. Desi mixed veg cooked with videshi seasonal vegetables in creamy & cheesy curry. some videshi vegetables like corn kernels, peas, orange carrot, zucchini, broccoli etc all boiled cooked in creamy, onion based and mild spicy thick gravy which tastes so creamy & cheesy and heavenly delicious. garnished with coriander leaves and cheese spreads.
* Dal Haryali - This was the traditional Amritsari dal which was made with chana dal, black lentils and some Indian spices. this one comes with the twist of spinach to make it more nuitritious. creamy, thick and deliciously tasty dal which was little spicy and aromatic made with pulses and spinach with tadka of Indian spices. recommended.
Alright guys that's all with that desi swag experience. like to thank Management and staff for such wonderful experience. A must try place. personal favorite. highly recommended to all.
